Abstract:
This review discusses recent progress in development of Raman spectroscopy for detection and identification of viral, bacterial, and fungal diseases of plants. Application of this non-invasive and non-destructive method in early biotic and abiotic agricultural plant stress can save up to 40% of the total agricultural yield worldwide. The use of Raman spectroscopy in farming and breeding is also discussed.
